Laboratory of Prof. Polly Roy

Prof. Polly Roy's Reovirus RNA virus research group joined the School in March 2001. Their Bluetongue virus (BTV) studies provide one of the most complete models of virus structure and function, and have generated a broadly applicable virus-like-particle (VLP) antigen delivery system. In the medium term their BTV research will focus on development of reverse genetics and on investigation of the diverse tropism of the Culicoides-transmitted virus for arthropod and mammalian cell lines. In the long term microarray analysis may be applied to study gene regulation in permissive and non-permissive host cells. They will be launching an analogous research programme on human rotavirus
