Background

I joined the Public and Environmental Health Research Unit in 2009. Previously I completed a BA Geography at the University of Leeds, and an MSc Social Research and PhD Sociology, both at the University of Edinburgh.  I am a member of the British Sociological Association, and co-convene its Early Career Forum.

Teaching

I lead seminars on the Principles of Social Research module, and tutor on the MSc in Public Health.

Research

My research focuses on young people's sexual health, and particularly young people's sexual behaviour and sexuality education. I am currently working with Cicely Marston on an ESRC-funded qualitative study of young people's sexual practices in the UK.

Past research has looked at parent-child communication about sex; school-based sex education; childhood sexual abuse and young people's experiences of harm in sport.
