NPHIRU is home to several research groups including:

  • Nutrition Group, the primary site of nutrition expertise in LSHTM
  • CRASH 2 Trial, a placebo-controlled trial of the antifibrinolytic agent tranexamic acid on risk of death and blood transfusion requirement in patients with significant bleeding after injury
  • Cochrane Injuries Group, co-ordinating systematic reviews in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of trauma
  • Global Mental Health with ongoing projects in Africa and Asia including trials of strategies for managing common mental disorders and schizophrenia
  • Maternal, Newborn and Child Health: Designing and evaluating public health intervention trails to improve maternal, new born and child survival, and child growth development
  • Transport and Health Group members, with ongoing projects in the health effects of transport strategies to reduce greenhouse pollutant emissions
  • txt2stop trial trial which is evaluating the effect of SMS sent to participants who wish to stop smoking.
