The role of technologies in ensuring universal Health Coverage: A case study of developing An Affordable Diagnostic Health Tablet
As India and indeed the world embarks on a journey towards universal health coverage, it is imperative to systematically leverage the tremendous opportunity that innovative technologies present. In this talk Dr Kahol will focus on the development and deployment of a Health Tablet (Swasthya Slate) in India that is capable for offering the following 8 diagnostics: Blood Pressure; Blood Sugar;Blood Haemoglobin;Heart Rate; Water Quality (Total Suspended Particles in Water); Electrocardiogram; Body Temperature; Urine Protein.
The talk will cover how the tablet was conceptualized and then developed. We will cover how the development process in developing nations contrasts with development process in the west. We will cover the challenges of deployment and how we aim to address them. The talk will end with summary of our pilot studies and the opportunity ahead.
