Researching sexual behaviour: bridging the gap between what people do and say

Date: Wednesday 22 February 2012
Time: 8:00 pm
Venue: Institute of Psychoanalysis, Byron House, 112a Shirland Road, London, W9 2EQ, UK
Type of event: Lecture
Speaker(s): Professor Kaye Wellings

Fieldwork will be completed later this year on the third National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles, the first and second surveys having been carried out in 1990 and 2000. This is a random probability sample of 15,000 respondents aged 16-74 and resident in Britain. How well can large scale surveys capture the detail of what is for most a personal and private area of behaviour?  And how can researchers work with respondents to ensure that they do? The talk will draw on the development work that has guided the design of all three Natsal surveys.

Admission: Free and open to all with no ticket required. Entry is on a first come, first served basis.
