IT Facilities in the Library
The Library offers a range of IT facilities. For more general and extensive queries regarding IT, please contact IT Services. Distance Learning students visiting the Library have different arrangements.
PC Provision
There are a limited number of fixed PCs available in the Reading Room, available on a first-come first-served basis, which can be used to access networked applications and online resources. You will need your School network user name and password to log in to these machines. To view the current availability of the fixed PCs in the Library use the IT Services classroom page.
There are also a number of fixed PCs available in the e-library, situated in the South Court Yard. These are also available on a available on a first-come first-served basis. The e-library is occasionally used for training, but again you can view the current availability on the IT Services classroom page.
Laptops
The Library has a number of laptops available for use in the Library, which can be used to access networked applications and online resources via the wireless network. Laptops can be borrowed from the Enquiries Desk using your School ID card (just like borrowing a book), and are loaned for use within a set period. Laptops must be returned at the end of each period to enable them to be recharged - another laptop can be borrowed immediately for the next session. Printing
Printing is free in the Library and you can use this facility from either a fixed PC or from a laptop via the wireless network. More information is available on wireless printing. If the printer is not working, please report this to the Enquiries Desk.
Wireless
There is full wireless access throughout the Library. This service is only available to staff and students with a School network account. To connect to the wireless network, see the wireless setup page.
Catalogues
There are a number of dedicated search terminals that can be used by all staff, students and visitors to locate items held by the Library. These terminals are located near the main entrance to the Library, opposite the Enquiries Desk, and are only linked to the Library Catalogue - you will not be able to access electronic resources from here.
