Using the Library Catalogue

Online training

We have produced a brief guide [pdf] and an advanced guide [pdf] to using the Library Catalogue.  We have also produced the following short videos to help you to:

About the Library Catalogue

The Library Catalogue is a website which contains details of the print and electronic items available from the Library.  It tells you where to find these items in the Library, and whether they are on the shelf or out on loan.

The Library Catalogue can be accessed by anyone, from any computer with access to the Internet.

The Library Catalogue also contains details of your Library account.  You can log in with your Library User ID and PIN to see which books you have on loan and renew them.  You can also reserve items if all copies are currently on loan.

Printed Catalogue

Books and pamphlets published before 1970 are currently being added to the Library Catalogue.  Details of these items can be found in the Printed Catalogue, situated next to the Library Catalogue computers in the Library entrance.

Each item is listed in the Printed Catalogue by title, author and subject.  Therefore, if you were looking for eg Ronald Ross’ The prevention of malaria, you could look it up in three ways: under the letter ‘R’ for the author (Ross), ‘P’ for the title (Prevention of Malaria) or ‘M’ for the subject (Malaria, Prevention).
