Joining the LibraryAll staff and all London-based Masters, Diploma and research degree students of the School are entitled to join the Library, to borrow and to use networked resources. All students are normally registered with the Library at the beginning of their studies. Members of the School may borrow up to ten items for the designated loan period. The Standard Loan period is two weeks. Some key texts are designated as One Week Loans. Copies of high demand texts are placed on Overnight Loan, available from the Enquiries Desk from 9.45am to 9.30am the next working day - there is a 50 pence fine for late returns. Only one Overnight Loan may be borrowed at a time. Reference material may not be borrowed. Members of the School may at times need to consult other libraries for materials not available here. For details of membership and access arrangements for other libraries, click here. VisitorsNon-members of the School (visitors) are welcome to visit the Library to refer to its specialised holdings. Visitors are required to present institutional ID or proof of home address when signing in. Because of space limitations visitors wishing to consult more general material that is also available elsewhere are advised to use these alternative locations. Please note that visitors will not be able to access networked resources such as electronic journals, databases, internet and email. Distance Learning StudentsStudents currently registered as distance learning students with the University of London External Programme may use the Library for reference purposes. The conditions regarding use of the Library by visitors apply. External MembershipMembers of the LSHTM Alumni Association, and current staff, research degree students and eligible taught-course students from SCONUL institutions may apply to join as an External Member. Staff and research degree students from M25 Consortium institutions may also apply. External Members may borrow up to five items at a time from the print collections, but may not access electronic resources. For further information, including details of the documentation that is required to use the Library for reference or to join as an External Member, please refer to the Library Rules.
