iFolder

Introduction

iFolder is a method of storage solution that enables you to access, manage, backup and share your files.

iFolder syncs your documents across multiple computers and  it also saves a copy on the server so that you have access to it from anywhere, at anytime. iFolder tracks and logs changes made while you work online or offline, and then synchronise those changes automatically once you are connected. You can install iFolder on your computer or laptop you regularly use and download information.

iFolder also offers to access your files through any standard web browser.

This service is available to all staff and research degree students.

Quota and Sync Policy

iFolder users have a default quota of 1GB and a maximum number of 5 iFolders allowed per user.

The minimum synchronization interval typically every 5 minutes is enforced by the server. User can choose to add number of minutes for the background file synchronization under preferences. The absolute system minimum is 1 minute.

It's always a best practice to check the status of all files and folders are fully synchronised before you exit or log off.

(If you require more disk space please send an e-mail to your relevant faculty computing support or e-mail: ITShelpdesk@lshtm.ac.uk)

Please DO NOT create the iFolder on a network drive e.g. Home Directory (H:\) or Shared Network Drive (I:\ or U:\)
