CCD Fluorescence Microscope
The CCD microscope is an Axioplan 2 upright microscope with a CCD camera connected to a computer with Perkin Elmer Volocity software. The microscope is equipped with x5, x10, x20, x40 and x100 lenses, as well as red, blue and green fluorescence filters. This microscope is used for imaging histology sections, as well as taking fluorescence images, z stacks and movies.
The Volocity software is a very powerful tool and can be used for capturing images, deconvolution and further quantitative analyses. Some useful tutorials on how to use the software can be found here. This software can also be used to analyse images taken with other software (eg LSM confocal images). You can download the software here and use it on any computer in the Keppel Street building (you will need the IP address and port number from Rachel or Liz).
