Information for New Staff

We are delighted that you have decided to join the School and wish you every success in the years ahead. These pages on the HR website and the links below have been developed to help you settle in, and we hope you will find them useful.


The HR Team is located in the Keppel Street building; if you would like to visit HR, please go to HR reception which is based in room G24.  You can use HR reception to drop off or pick up documents requested from HR.

Staff Induction day

The Talent and Educational Development team within Human Resources will invite new staff to attend the next available Induction Day. However, if for any reason you have not been invited, please contact the Talent and Educational Development (staff only) team to arrange a place.

Equal Opportunities and Diversity (e-learning course)

It is a requirement for all new staff to complete this e-learning module within their first two months of employment. Please visit the Equality and Diversity Awareness page (staff only) and follow the link E-learning Induction Training to complete the course.

E-Learning Course: Disability Confident

The new online equalities resource for staff called 'Disability Confident' (additional to the mandatory package for all new staff 'Equality and Diversity in Practice') is a training package which is relevant for all School staff, but is particularly targeted to staff in 'customer facing' positions.

Information Security Awareness Training

It is a requirement for all new staff to complete this e-learning training which is available on Moodle.  Please complete this course as soon as you can.

Payment of Salary

The School operates its own payroll procedures. The normal date for payment of salaries into bank or building society accounts is the 24th of each month. When the 24th of the month occurs on a Saturday, Sunday, Bank Holiday or Director’s Day, payment will be made on the nearest day before the 24th day.

School Holiday Dates

The School is closed over the Easter and Christmas holidays, and on Bank Holidays.  For a full list of the dates on which the School is closed please see Term and Holiday Dates.


Pensions Information

Staff of the School receive the benefit of a variety of Occupational Pension Schemes. For further information please visit the Pensions Information pages.

Season Ticket Loan

Interest free loans are available to all staff to cover the cost of a season ticket/travel card for travelling to work.

Application may be made by completing the Season Ticket Loan Form and returning it to the Payroll Office. Please allow at least seven days for the payment to be processed. Proof of purchase will be required. The form, together with further information on the scheme can be found on the Payroll intranet (staff only).

Child Care Voucher Scheme

The School operates a Childcare Voucher Scheme with Computershare Voucher Services.  Please contact Payroll or visit the Payroll intranet (staff only) for further information about the scheme.

Cycle Scheme

The School operates a Cyclescheme (pdf). The Ride2Work scheme was introduced by the Government in order to promote healthier journeys to work and to reduce environmental pollution.

Gym facility for staff

Staff at the School can use the Sports and Social Club facilities at The 52 Club. For further information visit the 52 Club website.

Staff Library Membership

The Library & Archives Service provides access to a huge range of books, journals and electronic resources, as well as advice and training for students and staff. For further information visit the Library & Archives webpages.


Health Facilities

Please visit the intranet pages for information on the School's Occupational Health services (staff only) through which information on counselling and other assistance can be obtained.
