Professional Support Staff

Introduction

This section brings together the courses that are run specifically for professional support staff. These are mainly in the areas of general working skills, management development and career development. The in-house programme of transferable skills for professional support staff that is delivered by Lindsay Wright is running again in full this year based on the very positive feedback received previously. We are also able to offer staff the opportunity to attend some courses run by other colleges in Bloomsbury, where they can network with staff from other colleges. We are also encouraging staff to look at the courses available at their local FE and Adult Education Colleges which will help them develop their personal effectiveness and job-related skills.

Further courses are available to professional support staff, especially in the areas of computing skills, general working skills (including interpersonal skills), health and safety training, including courses on laboratory safety, and various aspects of management development. Please see the other sections of the programme for these.

Staff are encouraged to join their professional associations (like AUA) and take up development opportunities organised by them. Where a course is highly related to the person’s job, the SED Programme will consider paying (in part or full) for attendance if the Department/Office/Faculty/Division cannot provide funding. An application should be made in writing to the Head of Talent and Educational Development.
