Teaching Courses 2012-2013
Introduction
This year sees the continuation of some important developments for training in learning and teaching at the School. We are once again offering an extensive in-house programme of workshops in a wide range of teaching skills, with several newly developed, that are available to all staff involved in teaching and supporting student learning. The programme is designed to meet the needs of staff new to teaching, lecturers within their probationary period, and experienced staff wishing to develop specific areas of teaching further, in line with the School's Strategy on Training for Teaching and the Probationary Review Requirements for Lecturers.
Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching (PGCILT)
The courses that make up the workshop content of the PGCILT programme are included in the schedule attached below. These are shown in the M1 and M2 columns to indicate Module 1 and Module 2 of the Certificate. For details of the PGCILT programme and eligibility to join please contact the Staff and Educational Development Unit and/or arrange to attend one of the forthcoming Seminars on Training for Teaching Options.
(NOTE: PGCILT candidates are responsible for booking their own workshop places, to meet the Certificate requirements, through Staff and Educational Development in the normal way.)
All workshops can be attended on an individual, one-off basis by staff involved in teaching and supporting student learning.
R: in the schedule attached below indicates that the workshop or event is restricted to School staff only (and other external PGCILT candidates, if a required workshop). Other teaching skills workshops may be attended by research degree students in line with any teaching or supporting student learning they are undertaking, subject to the usual approval and booking procedure.
