The School embraces and values the diversity of its staff and student population and seeks
to promote equality as an essential element in enhancing the School's contribution to the
improvement of health worldwideLSHTM Equality and Diversity Strategy
Introduction
The School's Equality and Diversity Strategy was approved for School-wide implementation by the Board of Management on 15th March 2006. It covers all staff, students and visitors to the School and aims to provide a working, learning and social environment which is supportive and inclusive. In support of this a range of training is offered which staff and managers are required to attend. Participation is monitored by the Personnel and Payroll Office and reported to the Equal Opportunities Committee.
A key objective of this training is to contribute to building a positive work and study environment in which staff and students can work with dignity and respect, as well as helping staff to be aware of the important legislation covering this area, and the spirit and intention of the legislation.
As in previous years, the workshops on Interview and Selection skills and Appraisal skills are mandatory for all staff who participate in interviews and/or run appraisals for staff. These have been found to be very useful by staff who have attended in the past, particularly as they focus on the skills needed for performing these vital roles. An additional half-day workshop has been introduced to refresh the skills of experienced staff in the area of Interview and Selection. If you cannot attend the courses on the dates offered, please inform Staff and Educational Development and we will arrange an extra course if there is sufficient demand.
We have also introduced a half-day workshop on Cultural Awareness that is open to any member of staff wishing to extend or challenge their knowledge and awareness in this area.
