Clinical Trials

The need for rigorous evaluation of components of health care is increasingly recognised worldwide. An important type of evaluation is the randomised controlled clinical trial. What is more, the field is growing and offers excellent career prospects. The MSc (or PG Diploma) in Clinical Trials course by distance learning is suitable for both those wishing to gain an overall understanding of trials before moving into the field, and those who have general or specialist experience in clinical trials. Infectious Diseases course

A selection of sessions from the AIDS and Malaria modules which comprise optional elements of the School's distance learning MSc in Infectious Diseases course can be viewed here. The modules can also be studied as standalone courses. These sample sessions are interactive and include some self-assessment exercises. Travel Medicine

The numbers of overseas visits made by UK residents has been increasing by 15% annually, reaching 60 million in 2006. With these rising numbers of people travelling to foreign destinations, good travel health provision is of the utmost importance and has made knowledge of Travel Medicine an essential part of UK medical practice. This online CPD course forms an introduction to Travel Medicine, concentrating on pragmatic focused issues in the field, and encompassing key components in the delivery of basic travel health provision.
