1. Part-Time Work

  • Animal Pharm News. News and resource site for animal health industry. Includes Careers site with jobs (as wellas events listings and company links)
  • Reed Health Care Specialist recruitment agency for nurses, doctors, allied health and social care professionals

 

3. Academic & Science sector Jobs

  • LSHTM Vacancy Pages, A good source of relevant academic research, technical assistant and administative positions within the school.
  • Weekly Opportunities Bulletin, University of London.The central university collates all the current vacancies across all the University of London colleges (e.g. UCL, Kings, Queen Mary, SOAS, LSHTM) and publishes them together in downloadable weekly bulletins. A really good source of local academic research and administration positions. It is also worth looking at the vacancy pages of other academic institions within London such as Imperial College & LSE.
  • jobs.ac.uk For a range of jobs within academic institutions across the UK
  • Lab Support. Recruitment consultants who place individuals from a variety of scientific backgounds including molecular biology, microbiology, health and safety, food science and biochemistry.
  • PhDJobs.com - Contains academic and commercial opportunites for those with postgraduate qualifications

 

4. Charities, Development, Policy & International Jobs

  • Opportunities Abroad, Jobs for Development (from WSE). Updated monthly - if the link is not working it may need to be updated so please check later. Extensive jobs listing site containing postings from development and aid organisations, faith agencies, recruiters specialising in international aid and development and overseas contracts. New for 2008 - Entry Level Jobs for people looking to enter into the sector as well as volunteer opportunities and internships.
  • International Career Employment Weekly. From the International Jobs Center. A comprehensive source of international careers for professionals,
    including international development jobs. The LSHTM Careers Service has a subscription to it's weekely bulletin. If you would like us to email you a current, electronic copy (available only to current students), then please email your request to careers@lshtm.ac.uk
  • International job Online, The Careers Group, University of London. The UK’s first online vacancies and careers information site which aims to bring together UK educated International Students (European & Overseas) and Graduate Employers. International JobOnline is a one-stop-shop where you can search graduate vacancies, find information on working in the UK and look through country specific careers information.
  • AlertNet.org Link to Job Search section of this website covering humanitarian emergencies
  • CharityJob. Includes volunteering and graduate opportunities
  • Developmentaid.org. Also contains some positions that don't require extensive experience, as well as some internship and volunteer opportunities.
  • DevNetJobs.org. International Development Jobs, Consulting, Consultancies in NGOs, Non-Profits, UN Agencies, Charities, Foundations, Bilaterals, Multilaterals and Development Banks
  • Dev-Zone. Development Work database. This database houses a range of development related jobs, volunteer positions and internships, contracts and consultancies.
  • Getting into International Development microsite, The Careers Group, University of London
    This site has been designed to be used in conjunction with the book 'Getting into International Development' published in April 2006. It has a link to a vacancy search targetted to NGO/Charity and Multilateral organisations.

  • The British Red Cross - Volunteer Positions. British Red Cross offers a wide range of volunteering opportunities which can be a valuable work experience. Opportunities are available in the various departments across the organization in London and in their local branches. Positions are available in: Emergency response and first aid, health and social care, migration services, and others.
  • UNICEF - Employment. Contains information on current vacancies, short - term opportunities, internships and voluntary positions.
  • UN Jobs - includes advertised postions with: UNDP, UNHCR, WHO, ICC.
  • VolResource. Has a list of recruitment agencies specialising in the voluntary sector.

Vacancy magazines / newsletters

We receive regular bulletins such as Health Exchange and the Medical Research Council Staff Vacancy Notice. In addition, we subscribe to Development Jobs and International Careers Weekly. These publications can be found in the Careers Service Resource Area, presently located in room M 103.

Postgraduate study and Research Opportunities

We have the latest copy of the 'Prospects Postgraduate Directory' in our Resource Area at 50 Bedford square, which is the offical guide to postgradute study in the UK and Ireland with over 23,500 courses and research opportunities.
