Seema Vyas is an economist with a focus on econometric methods.

Teaching

Seema teaches on the Basic Statistics linear module, in addition, she has taught on the Economic Analysis for Health Policy and Social Epidemiology modules for the past two years. She is tutor on the MSc in Public Health in Developing Countries.

Research

Seema has worked with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine for 6 years, initially concentrating on private health sector analysis and the economics of STI and HIV prevention. She is currently a PhD student in the Health Policy Unit, and her interest is focused on development initiatives and gender, in particular, understanding how economic factors including women's employment, financial autonomy and control over resources, influence risk and women's responses to intimate partner violence. She also has an interest in methodological issues e.g. measuring household poverty.
