Originally from a Hospital Pharmacy background I worked in Africa for some years before taking the MSc in Medical Demography at LSHTM. I then joined the staff of PSD (formerly CPS) and have remained here ever since. I organised the MScs Demography and Health, and Reproductive and Sexual Health Research for many years but have now retired and passed on this role. I won't hear anything bad about Stata which I helped to introduce into the School many years ago.
I still teach Demographic methodology, some statistics and analysis of complex surveys, although much less than I used to. I have been involved in many areas of research over the years and consequently have a rather eclectic range of publications.
I am now part-time and mostly involved in the development of interactive web-based distance learning material for training demographers in resource-poor settings. This work is commissioned by IUSSP and UNFPA. When complete it will be open source material and therefore available for a variety of teaching opportunities.
