Paula comes from a mixed academic background. After completing a BSc in Anthropology at the University of East London, she proceeded to Oxford University to complete an MSc in Cognitive and Evolutionary Anthropology. She went on to do another MSc at London School of Economics in Social Research Methods and finally a PhD at LSHTM in Population Health. She is currently a Research Fellow in the Department of Health Service Research and Policy. Keeping in touch with her anthropology background she is a member of the Evolutionary Demography Group.

Paula defines herself as a Human Behavioural Ecologist with a particular interest in parental investment and life history theory. She is especially interested in outcomes relating to child nutrition, growth, and health.
