Activities:

Household Health Survey (HHS) in the Nouna Health District, Burkina Faso : Two survey's waves (Sept-Oct 2010 and Feb-March 2011) consisting in collection of socio-economic and health data by in-depth interviews at the home of 990 households randomly sampled in the District of Nouna.

Title:

Deployment of Artemisinin-based Combination Therapies (ACT) for treating uncomplicated malaria, Oussouye Health District, Senegal

Research axis:

1. Trend in malaria morbidity at the M’lomp dispensary between 1998 and 2002, previously and during three years utilisation of Artesunate plus Amodiaquine combination.

Method: Retrospective longitudinal study of two malaria morbidity indicators (7,409 fevers and 3,269 cases of uncomplicated malaria) collected from dispensary records.

2. Nurses’ practices in uncomplicated malaria healthcare, blood smear use and antimalarials prescription, in the Oussouye District Hospital.

 

Methods: Cross sectional survey with:

- Retrospective collection of consultations data from 2004 and 2005 records (4,924 children),

- Observations of consultations and laboratory activities,

- Semi-directive interviews with medical staff from July to September 2005.

3. Interest in a Mono-Desethyl-Amodiaquine (MDA) blood assay as a biological measure of the compliance to Artesunate plus Amodiaquine combination.

Method: Construction of a scale of mean MDA blood concentrations from venous blood samples in 40 healthy adult volunteers at the Analytic Chemistry laboratory of the Cheikh Anta Diop University, Dakar.

As a research fellow at the LSHTM, I'm currently working on the evaluation of the impact of a mass media campaign to reduce child mortality in Burkina Faso.
