Dr Ula Nur BSc MSc PhD

Lecturer in Cancer Statistics-Cancer Research UK

Graduated with a joint degree in Statistics and Computer science from the University of Khartoum/Sudan. Completed an M.Sc. of Medical Statistics at The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 1993. Joined the department of Neurosciences and mental health/Imperial College London as a Research Associate in medical statistics in August 2002. Analysed a number of studies in mental health and neurosciences, these involved looking at the relationship between a number of psychiatric symptoms, and personality disturbance. Ula was also involved in teaching medical statistics for under graduates and post-graduate students at the Faculty of Medicine/Imperial college London.

Investigated the impact of methods of handling missing data on estimates in Cohort studies, with greater focus on multiple imputation. Awarded a PhD of Biostatistics from the University of Leeds in 2004.

Joined the Cancer Survival Group/ Department of Non-communicable disease Epidemiology as a lecturer in Cancer Survival in December 2005.

Ula organises the Analysis of Hierarchical & other dependent data module, and teaches on the Statistical methods in epidemiology module.

Research

My Ula's current research include socio-economic inequalities in cancer survival in patients who took part in clinical trails. Modelling relative survival in the presence of incomplete data.
