I trained as a doctor from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Uganda and graduated in 1995. I worked as a Medical Officer at Masaka regional Referral Hospital from 1995 to 2000 and enrolled for MSc Clinical epidemiology and Biostatistics at Makerere University and completed in 2002. I then joined the MRC/UVRI as a Medical Officer attached to the Rural Clinical Cohort. In 2006, I was appointed a trial coordinator for the SPARTAC trial and a Senior Medical Officer for the MDP trial at the Masaka site. In 2009 I was appointed a project leader for the Well Being of the older people study conducted by the MRC/UVRI in collaboration with WHO.It was during my work for the Well being of older people study that I developed an interest in doing a PhD in health issues affecting older people in uganda. I joined the School in September 2010 and my PhD is on anaemia among older people in rural Uganda
