Henrik Moller BA BSc MSc DM FFPH

Honorary Professor of Cancer Epidemiology

I joined the School in January 2000 as a Professor of Cancer Epidemiology. In my principal role I am Director at the Thames Cancer Registry and Professor at King's College London School of Medicine. TCR website: www.tcr.org.uk .

I was originally educated in biology and social sciences, and moved into cancer epidemiology by working at the Danish Cancer Registry (1986-1992), at the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon (1992-1995) and at the Centre for Research in Health & Social Statistics in Copenhagen (1995-1999). My main task at the Thames Cancer Registry is to lead the programmes of research and information, and to establish collaboration with users of the Registry's data in the NHS, in hospital trusts and in research institutions.

Teaching

I have contributed to the LSHTM Distance Learning and taught courses in the School. I have supervised students in the broad areas of analysis of temporal trends, international variation in cancer care, and male reproductive health. In King’s College London I teach courses in cancer statistics and cancer epidemiology.

Research

My previous research has included work on biological markers of exposure to carcinogens, descriptive cancer epidemiology, cancer risk assessment, aetiological studies (using case-control and cohort designs), and studies of socio-economic consequences for the individual who develops cancer. Current research activities are linked to the service provision of the Thames Cancer Registry and include descriptive cancer epidemiology, health services research, analysis of cancer survival and data quality issues.
