I obtained my BSc in Biochemistry and Chemistry from the University of Nairobi. I then obtained MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Nairobi.
I was Graduate fellow and Research Assistant in the Genetics and Genomics laboratory of International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)-Nairobi from 2004-2007 using molecular population genetic approaches to understand the origin and genetic diversity of chicken.
In 2008-2009 i was a part-time lecturer of Biochemistry and molecular biology at Kenyatta University and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology
Currently my research in Prof. David Conway lab focusses on using population genomic approaches to identify signatures of natural selection in Plasmodium falciparum
