Markus Haacker PhD

Honorary Lecturer

I have been an Honorary Lecturer at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine since 2008. Previously, I worked at the International Monetary Fund, mainly at the African Department (1999-2008).

My current academic research is focusing on the areas of growth and development, especially the intersections of macroeconomics, economic development, and health. I am working also with the World Bank to assess the fiscal dimension of HIV/AIDS and HIV/AIDS programs in sub-Saharan Africa.

Past work includes numerous publications on the macroeconomic and fiscal dimension of HIV/AIDS and HIV/AIDS programs (notably The Macroeconomics of HIV/AIDS, published by the IMF), as well as several publications on the economic role of information and communication technologies in developing countries.
