My research interests include the use of health services and health-seeking behaviour in southern Africa. I am particularly interested in sexual, as well as mental health, amongst people living with HIV. My research has so far focussed on health-seeking behaviour for childhood illnesses in South Africa; the use of traditional, complementary and alternative medicines amongst people living with HIV in South Africa (and impact on adherence); symptoms and quality of life amongst HIV patients in South Africa; marital status and its links with HIV transmission in Zimbabwe. I am currently working on a research project (INTEGRA) in collaboration with the International Planned Parenthood Federation (funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) and the Population Council to assess the benefits and costs of a range of models for delivering integrated HIV and SRH services in high and medium HIV prevalence settings.
