My background is in biological science and after graduating from LSHTM with an MSc in Control of infectious diseases I joined the Health Protection Agency, and later the Veterinary Laboratories Agency, as an epidemiologist, working on: human influenza and R.S.V surveillance, pandemic planning, E.U. avian influenza surveillance in wild birds and campylobacter surveillance.
Before returning to LSHTM to study for a PhD I worked at U.C.L. on the FluWatch pandemic study and for the Infectious Disease Research Network.
