Research Degree Student in Infectious and Tropical Diseases

I am a PhD Candidate in the Department of Clinical Research at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). I am a medical doctor employed by the Zambia AIDS-Related TB (ZAMBART) project. Before joining the ZAMBART project, I worked for the Zambian Ministry of Health as a District Director of Health. My responsibilities included managing patients, planning and coordinating health activities for a District. I hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBChB) from the University of Zambia; and a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a focus in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

Research

I am involved in two key research areas:

(1) TB and HIV research, particularly in communities with high TB and HIV infections in Zambia and South Africa; and

(2) research on the use of screening tools to determine the prevalence of common mental disorders among TB and HIV-positive patients who access treatment in Zambia's primary health care facilities.
