Mr Christopher Brown BSc, Cert Mgmt (Open)

Data Manager - for IDEAS project

I'm developing an electronic survey tool, for the maternal and newborn health project – IDEAS.  It will be used to assess the effectiveness of health systems in 3 target geographies.

I’m database manager with wide range of IT skills centered around getting data into, and out of, databases.  This includes multi-lingual web front ends, reporting, and, data design.

I studied Human Genetics at UCL, but moved swiftly away from academia after a spot of research at Eli Lilly in Bagshot [Arthritis], and into the lucrative emerging web industry – beginning with multi-lingual, multi-currency e-commerce site selling domestic photocopiers.  My web experience continued to have more and more database involvement, and when the dot com bubble burst – I specialised in Database Administration – working on 6 million individual CRM.  Since then I’ve been contracting using one facet of my experience, or the other.

With the London School, I get to use most of my skills at once – and help local developers design easy to use [and easy to adapt] electronic survey tools.

Long term, I'd like to get combine my programming and genetics and get into rapid genome diagnostics, stratified medicine – and eventually cancer genome re–programming.
