Faculty Taught Programme Director for the Faculty of Public Health and Policy and Associate Dean of Education (Student Experience and Student Journeys) within the Division of Education.

Obtained a BSc(Hons) in mathematics at Leeds University, an MSc, DIC in Control Systems at Imperial College, London and a PhD in dynamic optimisation also at Imperial College, London. A qualified maths teacher with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Manchester University.

Teaching

Taught Programme Director for the Faculty of Public Health and Policy and Associate Dean of Education (Student Experience).

Prior to this was a Programme Director for MSc Public Health. Previous teaching involvement included establishing, organising and teaching on the Basic Maths support sessions, lecturing and seminar leading on the Infectious Disease Modelling module and summer short course and teaching on the Analytical Models for Decision Making (now Health Decision Science) module. Currently contribute to Basic Statistics for PHP (face-to-face and distance learning) teaching and marking.

Research

Research interests in mathematical modelling applied to problems in medicine and biology.

Previous projects included: modelling vaccination strategies for measles; working on a simulation model for evaluating prevention and treatment strategies for coronary heart disease; models to estimate the cost-effectiveness of faster testing for MRSA on patients admitted for hip or knee surgery.

Currently interested in research related to teaching and learning and enhancing student experience.
