Ana is currently a Doctorate in Public Health student at the Department of Global Health and Development. She holds a Master in Public Health in Global Communicable Diseases and a Certificate in Epidemiology from the University of South Florida (USA), as well as a Bachelor in Science summa cum laude with a major in Integrative Biology and minor in Anthropology from University of Florida (USA).
She has worked with the Pan American Health Organization, primarily on Health Systems/Human Resources for Health Development issues; with the United Nations Headquarters writing a report on Global Health Partnerships and effects on Health Systems; and as Project Coordinator of a Medical Anthropology study looking at Cultural Diversity and Breast Cancer Support Groups with the Department of Global Health, University of South Florida. Additionally, she completed the OPA component of her degree at the HIV/AIDS Department, World Health Organization and recently returned from Peru where she was a visiting scientist at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia.

Research
Ana's dissertation is titled: "Aid (in)dependence? Promoting long term sustainability in the response to HIV/AIDS - The case of the Global Fund in Peru". Her main research interests relate to global health partnerships, aid effectiveness, coordination issues, health system strengthening and global health governance and diplomacy, concerning developing country settings (especially the Latin American Region).
