Dr Lee Abdelfadil MBBS MPH

Research Degree Student

Senior Advisor: Technical Co-operation (Global Fund)  Programme Lead: Health & Community Systems strengthening

I work for the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, a UK-based secretariat providing technical and financial assistance for a network of national independent linking organisations  working in 40 countries. In turn, they support and develop thousands more non-governmental and community-based organisations. I am responsible for providing support related to Global Fund, Health and Community Systems Strengthening and managing Technical Co-operation related to these areas.

I hold a Masters in Public Health in Developing Countries from LSHTM as well as a Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery from Ahfad University (Sudan ). I have worked in national and international HIV/AIDS and TB program design, management and implementation for ten years and in Technical Support management for the past  five years.

I am interested in strategy and policy development relating to Global Health Initiatives and how they finance national responses, in particular issues around the Global Fund. I am currently a part-time DrPH student in the Department of Global Health and Development within the Faculty of Public Health and Policy.  I am looking at how the Global Fund performance based model has affected access, equity and quality of HIV/AIDS services in Middle East and North Africa.
