HEFCE Exceptional Funding

The School is one of around 20 specialist institutions that receive exceptional funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). HEFCE exceptional funding recognises the additional costs that the School incurs because of its unique range of teaching, specialist facilities, and the scale of its contributions to national and international agencies.

HEFCE conducted a review of this exceptional funding in 2008, which confirmed that the School should continue to receive funding. The School's submission to the review panel, setting out the additional public value that it provides as a specialist institution, is available below.
