Data Protection

All data concerning donors and potential donors is held securely by the School’s Development Office. The data is treated confidentially and with sensitivity for the benefit of the School and its members.

We take appropriate measures to ensure that the personal information disclosed to us is kept secure, accurate, up to date and only for so long as is necessary for the purpose for which it is used, after which it is destroyed or permanently deleted. We will never sell any of your personal information or pass these to a third party without your consent.

The Development Office obtains information on School alumni from the School’s Alumni Office. View the Alumni Office’s data protection statement.

The Development Office also hold records on non-alumni, friends of the School, donors and potential donors.

We also obtain information from you when you enquire about our activities, register for an event, make a donation to the School or otherwise provide us with personal information. We may also receive information about you from third parties. We sometimes also record information about you that is published publicly and append it to your record.

Data may be made available to our academic and administrative departments, recognised alumni chapters and to agents contracted by the School for specific Development-related projects. Data is used to promote closer links between the School and its supporters through a full range of donor activities, including the sending of publications, the promotion of benefits and services available to donors and notification of donor events and programmes involving academic and administrative departments. Data may also be used in fundraising programmes which might include an element of direct mailing. The data will not be passed on to external commercial organisations.

Under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998 you have the right to object to the use of your data for any of the above purposes. You also have the right to ask for a copy of all the information we hold about you and to have any inaccuracies in your information corrected.
